What is your next move when the class discussion goes dry? When the turn and talk turns to weekend planning? When the discussion topic gets too heated or never takes off? When the strong voices of the few shade the rest of the room? When student apathy prevails?
This session is designed to offer participants a process and tangible tools to design classrooms rooted in argumentation and inquiry to increase critical thinking, communication, student voice, purposeful movement, and engagement. Come see how an interdisciplinary approach can be used to support student growth through argumentation and evidence-based reasoning while meeting the MN Academic Standards. Attendees of this session will participate in an argument protocol and inquiry process to explore why teaching students to find their voice is a powerful teaching move.

Sara Kosters & Haley Kalina
