On behalf of Alexandria Public Schools, we are so excited to host the 2019 Ignite Inspire Innovation Conference in the beautiful Alexandria Lakes Area! This conference is an offshoot of  EdLeader21, focusing on Innovation and Best Practices in Education, along with work around the Four C’s, Portrait/Profile of a Graduate, and Project-Based Learning (PBL). The Community Connected Academy is a program that inspires students through relevant experiential project-based learning to develop the passions and skills that are necessary for college, career, and the 21st century. Educators, students, families and community members learn together to create a responsive rich curriculum, a safe nurturing culture, and connect with experts in the community.

In the fall of 2018, Patrick Henry High School launched a grant funded program of 50 juniors with the focus of cross-curricular, social justice project based learning. This team wants to share the mission, outcomes, and lessons learned of the first year of a innovative program in an urban public school.
